Schedule Maintenance
What every continuous maintenance plan covers

At your plan visit, we inspect the generator and perform the scheduled maintenance recommended for its time and run hours—Annual Readiness, Schedule A, or Schedule B—up to one full service per plan year. If heavy outage use or added run hours require another service during the same plan year, that visit is billed at the standard rate for the Schedule A, Schedule B, or hours-based maintenance needed. Exact service requirements are confirmed from your generator model, hour meter, and owner's manual.

Benefits of staying on schedule

A service plan keeps maintenance from becoming another thing to remember.

Regularly scheduled inspections help us follow your generator's age, condition, and run hours over time. That creates opportunities to catch developing problems early and complete required maintenance before the next outage.

  • Inspections occur annually, semiannually, or quarterly
  • Maintenance is tracked by calendar time and generator run hours3
  • Battery, charging, controller, and exercise issues can be caught earlier
  • Completed service and recommendations are documented
  • Members receive labor discounts and free diagnostics with completed repairs
  • Higher plans include faster repair-response benefits

Plan terms

Important maintenance plan notes.

1 Always Ready battery benefit

Includes up to one standard generator starting battery per plan year when our technician's battery load test and charging-system inspection show that replacement is necessary. Preventive replacement of a functioning battery, premium or specialty batteries, damaged cables or terminals, charging-system repairs, and failures caused by outside damage are not included. The Always Ready plan must be active and current at the time of replacement. Any additional battery replacement during the same plan year is billed at the current standard rate.

2 Emergency-eligible after-hours callouts

An emergency-eligible callout is an after-hours service request from an active maintenance-plan customer whose generator has a condition that presents an immediate safety concern or prevents backup power during a current or imminent utility outage. Examples include a no-start, repeated shutdown, transfer failure, fuel odor or leak, smoke, sparking, or abnormal heat or noise.

Eligibility is determined by That Generator Guy based on urgency, safety, weather, property access, technician availability, and area-wide demand. Routine maintenance, exercise-cycle questions, monitoring or Wi-Fi issues, cosmetic concerns, and non-critical alerts are not considered emergencies.

After-hours, travel, labor, and parts charges may apply. Diagnostics are free when we perform the approved repair. Emergency eligibility does not guarantee immediate arrival or same-visit completion when severe weather, unsafe conditions, access, or parts availability prevent service.

Safety notice: If you smell fuel, see fire or sparking, or receive a carbon-monoxide warning, move to a safe location and contact 911 or the appropriate utility before contacting us.

3 Run-hour maintenance notification

If generator run hours reach or exceed a required maintenance interval before the next scheduled plan visit, the customer must notify That Generator Guy so the needed service can be scheduled. Customer notification is not required when the generator is actively enrolled in a dealer-monitored Mobile Link plan and remains online, connected, and communicating with the monitoring service.
